THE BASICS
Drinking Water
The water in the cottage is completely drinkable, fresh and tasty rain water. Water is a limited resource in Bermuda, so please conserve when possible.
Lighting
All the light switches in the cottage are labelled. The switch to turn the light on the front porch is located on the living room side of the wall.
Sensor Lights
There are two light switches in the room neared the pool for the outside sensor lights over looking the pool. These must be kept on at all times for safety reasons.
Air Conditioning
The A/C units are operated via a remote control that is attached to the wall beside the light switch. Please leave the A/C on unless you are opening a window and/or the sliding glass doors.
Ceiling Fans
The ceiling fans have all been pre-set for optimal air circulation and can't be adjusted. Constant airflow is an absolute must to help combat Bermuda's humid, tropical climate.
Garbage
Garbage day is Wednesday. The large garbage bin located on the far side of the garage and needs to be put out on the main road (just at the end of the lane) Tuesday evening. Please remember to collect the empty garbage bin the next day.
Recycling
Only glass, aluminum and tin are recycled locally and go into the clear blue bags provided (let us know if you run out). These can be left beside the large garbage bin in the garage. We'll take it from there.
Scooter Parking
There are cement pads on the right of the drive way for parking scooters. Please do not park your scooter on the driveway because it will get damaged by the scooter stand.
INSIDE STUFF
Flatscreen TV
The black remote need to have the TV button (located on the top upper right hand side of remote) in order to turn on the TV. Once the TV has been turned on, select the STB button (located on the top upper left hand side of the remote) to access the Guide, change channels and adjust volume. The TV receiver (black box located near the TV) should have a green light on. If not, simply unplug and re-plug until light turns green.
Kitchen
The kitchen has a large, side by side fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher and a wine fridge. The small appliances include a toaster, a 12-cup coffee maker (for those groggy mornings!), an electric kettle and a blender.
A starter amount of coffee, tea and sugar are supplied to tide you over until you are able to buy what you'll need for your stay.
For preparing meals the kitchen has a complete set of pots and pans, a salad bowl and salad servers, mixing bowls, measuring cup, colander, cutting board as well as all the small tools (openers, peelers etc.) that you will need. There are also long handled utensils and a grill cleaner for barbequing located in the bottom drawer of the peninsula.
Dishes
There are two sets of dishes, ceramic ones for inside and melamine for outside around the pool area.
Toilet Paper/Paper Towels
We will leave an initial supply of toilet paper and paper toilets to tide you over until you are able to get to the grocery store and buy what you need to get you through your stay.
Dishwasher
The dishwasher soap is located under the kitchen sink. As water is such a precious and limited resource in Bermuda, we kindly request that you only use the dishwasher when it's full.
Bath Towels
The bath towels will be on the towel rack in the bathroom. We will leave extra towels for you in the closet outside the small bathroom. We kindly request that you do not take the bath towels outside or to the beach and use the beach towels provided instead.

Books and Games
There is a "Little Cottage Library" with books and games for you to enjoy located in the bureau in the front hall. Please feel free to take a book home if you weren't able to finish it during your stay or leave a book for future guests.

Pool Area
The pool is professionally cleaned and chlorinated once a week (weather permitting).
BBQ
The BBQ is located on the far side of the pool deck. There are long handled BBQ utensils located in the lower drawer of the kitchen peninsula (please don't leave them outside as the salt air makes things rust).
Please remember to scrape off the grill when you’re finished (easier to clean when the grill is still hot) so that it’s nice and clean for the next guests. Let us know if the BBQ is running low on gas as we keep spare gas cylinders on hand.
OTHER STUFF
Post Cards & Stamps
Post cards can be purchased in most large stores and pharmacies. There are also several good places on Queen St. (Flying Colours, Brown & Co.). Stamps can be purchased and post cards can be mailed from the Perot Post Office (this quaint, old building is worth the visit) located at 11 Queen St. (open Mon.-Fri. 9-5).
SIM Cards for Cell Phones
Pre-paid SIM cards can be purchased either from Digicel (10 Church St. Hamilton) or One Communications (Washington Mall, 18 Church St. Hamilton) to save on roaming charges while in Bermuda.
An easy way to be able to make free local calls while in Bermuda is to download the WhatsApp App to your cell phone and make local call via the App.
Access to Private Tennis Court
The cottage has access to a private tennis court located at 181 South Road, just a short ride away. Please let us know if you want to play so the we can make sure the court is available.
Private Tennis Lessons
Private tennis lessons are available at the court with well know local tennis pro, Jerome Bradshaw. Please let us know if you want us to arrange lessons for you.
Tree Frogs
The beeping sounds (sometimes loud) you will hear night are our wonderful tree frogs. Even though they are only the size of a thumbnail, they make presence known throughout the night.
Insects & Pests
Bermuda is a semi-tropical island and insects are a fact of life. The entire property is professionally sprayed monthly. We kindly request that the garbage be brought out to bin out on a regular basis, keep the counters wiped and don't leave any food out to attract them. You may still see the occasional ants or the odd cockroach. It is not a reflection on the cleanliness of the property but rather an unavoidable aspect of life on an island.

THE BASICS

Lighting
The switch for the outside lights is located on the left hand side of the front door. This will turn on the front porch light as well as the lights in all the outdoor plants (looks great for a romantic evening). We are able to turn these on from the main house so if we see that you are still out when it’s dark we will turn these on for you.
There is a large red switch located on the eastern pillar at the entrance to the property which turn on all the driveway lights in the event you arrive back at night and everything has been turned off. Don’t worry about turning these off as they can only be turned off in the main house.
Air Conditioning
The A/C is operated via remote control. Please do not leave the A/C on during the day if you are out. Don’t worry, the cottage will stay nice and cool.

Insects & Pests
Bermuda is a tropical island and insects are a fact of life. You might see ants, the odd roach and maybe a spider or two. All insects in Bermuda are harmless!! Please do not leave open food lying around in the house – or you will definitely see the insects!!

We offer a 24 hour laundry service for $15/small load.

Beach towels have been provided as well as a beach bag. There is a drying rack for towels located in the closet for drying towels outside.
Tennis Equipment
There are two tennis racquets as well as tennis balls in the closet The tennis hut (located just outside the entrance to the tennis court) is a great place to have a drink, lunch or just relax after a game.

The pool and deck area are 100% yours to use! Weather permitting ☼, Graham regularly keeps the pool clean and chlorinated.

Roll Out Awning
There is a roll out awning which covers the sectional on those hot sunny days. The awning is rolled out using the hand crank located on the right hand side. Please roll up the awning whenever you leave or at night to avoid We kindly request that you do not take the bath towels outside or to the beach and use the beach towels provided instead.
Herb Garden
You are welcome to use the small herb garden located just below the garage and there is a rosemary bush located outside the gate under the arch leading to the cottage area.

Stamps can be purchased and post cards can be mailed from the Perot Post Office (this quaint, old building is worth the visit) located at 11 Queen St. (open Mon.-Fri. 9-5).
SIM Cards for Cell Phones
Pre-paid SIM cards can be purchased either from Digicel (10 Church St. Hamilton) or One Communications (Washington Mall, 18 Church St. Hamilton) to save on roaming charges while in Bermuda.
An easy way to be able to make free local calls is to download the WhatsUp App onto your phone and make local calls via the App.

Private tennis lessons are available at the court with well know local tennis pro, Jerome Bradshaw. Please let us know if you want us to arrange lessons for you.
Our Bee Hives
There are two small bee hives located on the far side of the property. Our beekeeper Spencer can usually be found at the Farmers Market (8:30-12:00 Saturday mornings during Nov-April) if you want to learn more about this fascinating skill or if you would just like to taste a sample! Bermuda's honey is particularly fragrant and light because of the varied flowers grown here on the island.
