Banstead Cottage House Manual
The water in the cottage is completely drinkable, fresh and tasty rain water. Water is a limited resource in Bermuda so please conserve when possible.
The switch for the outside lights is located on the left hand side of the front door. This will turn on the front porch light as well as the lights in all the outdoor plants (looks great for a romantic evening). We are able to turn these on from the main house so if we see that you are still out when it’s dark we will turn these on for you.
There is a large red switch located on the eastern pillar at the entrance to the property which turn on all the driveway lights in the event you arrive back at night and everything has been turned off. Don’t worry about turning these off as they can only be turned off in the main house.
The A/C is operated via remote control. Please do not leave the A/C on during the day if you are out. Don’t worry, the cottage will stay nice and cool.
The ceiling fan has been pre-set for optimal air circulation and can't be adjusted. Constant airflow is an absolute must to help combat Bermuda's humid, tropical climate.
Please park your scooter(s) in the garage and not in the driveway because they tend to leak oil which damages the driveway.
Garbage day is Wednesday. The garbage bin is located at the opposite side of the house from the cottage. Please drop your garbage in the bin and we'll take it from there.
Only glass, aluminum and tin are recycled locally and go into the clear blue bags provided (let us know if you run out). These can be left beside the regular garbage bins located at the far side of the house and we'll take it from there.
